Sea Letters provides the reader a glimpse into the lives of the Andrew Pinkham family of Nantucket, who together owing to the tides of war, moved to Clermont County, Ohio at the beginning of the War of 1812.The Pinkhams—father Andrew, and sons Alexander and Reuben—shared lives of love, adventure, courage and honor; especially Alex’s mission to preserve the memory and legacy of naval hero John Paul Jones.

 

About the Author

Rennyportrait2A native of Nantucket, Renny Stackpole taught history at Tabor Academy and the Moses Brown School and served as curator of museums at the Nantucket Historical Association. After moving to Maine in 1985, he helped with the restoration of the schooner Bowdoin, and was the director of the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport. He continues an involvement with museums and to research on maritime and history subjects.
