Here, There, and Everywhere

An Unexpected Surprise

“Cody crept toward the truck’s open door to get a better look. It was the ocean. He knew they were on the ferry again and in the very front! The surface of the water moved back and forth and sparkled in the sun. As he inched forward to get a better view, the sudden booming blast of a horn hurt his ears. He was so surprised that he lost his balance and fell first to the rocker panel below, then to the deck of the boat.
“He scampered under the truck and hid in the shadows. The surface was cold and hard and vibrated under his paws. He saw that the boat was gliding into the ocean. A dog nearby barked, and Cody feared it would pick up his scent in no time. There were people moving around. He realized that if he ran for cover, he might never find the truck again.”

This sequel to 2024’s From the Ground Up tells the story of chipmunks Cody and Coco, siblings to the adventurous Cosy. Now it’s Cody’s turn to “earn his stripes” as he and his sister have more harrowing adventures on Peaks Island. Illustrated by the author’s thirteen-year-old grandchild, an amazing artist, this is another adorable story full of action, suspense, and friendship that readers of all ages can enjoy.

The story was conceived by a grandfather and grandchild. Their writings and illustrations have created this vibrant and imaginative story.
