About the Author

A native of Nantucket, Renny Stackpole taught history at Tabor Academy and the Moses Brown School and served as curator of museums at the Nantucket Historical Association. After moving to Maine in 1985, he helped with the restoration of the schooner Bowdoin, and was the director of the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport. He continues an involvement with museums and to research on maritime and history subjects.
