Ron Morin

 by Ron Morin

After saying “I do” on September 7, 1975, at the top of Sugarloaf

Mountain in Maine, I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams what life with Ron Morin would be like. But really, getting engaged in the cafeteria at Maine Medical Center, working out of a tricked-out suburban ambulance, and taking a day away from a search for a lost child in a remote area to get married and then returning to the search the next day, well I should have guessed!

Ron is a 100 percent person. Without hesitation, he has given his all to the many patients he has cared for as a paramedic, to the multi-community first response system he built and the many first responders who have been our family, to his emergency vehicle customers, to Maine’s EMS Honor Guard, and especially to the many EMS system projects in Maine to which he has offered his wisdom and experience.

In August 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, our life hit a sudden pothole when Ron suffered a cardiac arrest. But what would you expect from a 100 percent guy who was pulseless for seventeen minutes? Ron recovered and went right back to work supporting our EMS system, taking care of vehicle customers, serving our community, and touring with his Squad 51 project, allowing himself the luxury of taking our 1957 Thunderbird out for a spin and ice cream cone every Sunday.
